PROGRAM INFORMATION

We are looking for well-rounded athletes to represent the College of the Sequoias at athletic events, at on-campus and off-campus appearances, and competitively. The two teams are determined based on skill level and competitiveness. 

Blue Team: The blue team attends all home athletic games, skill-related program events, away and post-season games and COS campus/community events. This team has a more skills-focused setting. Stunting skill level required for the team will be determined based on tryouts but will require a higher level of stunting. The team will be composed of up to 25 members and will also be the preferred team to compete at College Nationals on the TRADITIONAL mat. 

Orange Team: The orange team attends all home athletic games, program events, away and post-season games as needed and COS campus/community events. This team has a more game day skills-focused setting. Stunting skill level required for the team will be determined based on tryouts but will require at least intermediate skill level. Those who do not have all of the skills required at tryouts but show potential to gain the skills will be selected to be a part of the orange team. Orange team will be asked to gain the skills necessary before they are asked to perform any skills on the sideline or at events. Orange team as a whole will not compete however, members from this team will be given the opportunity to tryout for the nationals GAME DAY mat if they wish to compete. If an athlete is selected for the Orange team and would like to transition to the Blue team, they can be considered for a spot based on availability and the coach’s discretion. The head cheer coach will evaluate the skill level of interested members. 

White Team: Game Day competition team will be composed of those from both Blue and Orange Team who wish to compete game day and have the game day skills necessary to be on the competition floor.
